I just got a 30GB ipod as an (quite unexpected) gift. I have both a Mac and a PC and couldn't decide which one I wanted to set it up on. I decided to go with the PC since I have a 120GB hard disk to hold my mp3s and my powerbook only has 30GB and it wouldn't have worked out well.

I had a little bit of a rough time getting up and going. I decided right away not to use MMJB because I had seen my boyfriend's mother use it as just her mp3 playing software and it didn't look nice to me. I tried xplay and had trouble and then tried ephpod which is working out just fine for me now.

I've been ripping and encoding my CD collection using CD-ex over this weekend and it's getting a bit tedious. I'm at just over 10GB now, still a long way to go.

So far, I'm very impressed with everything. Just a few months ago I was going to buy a 20GB one, but I was a bit unsure and then just a few weeks later the new ones came out and boy was I glad I waited!
