Whether or not Macintosh is an "impatient whiner" is subject to personal opinion. It is NOT appropriate, however, for him to be officially labeled as such by the administration of these boards.

Is it possible for the author of a thread to lock it? That would be nice, but I guess it might not be very fair. Just wondering. Thanks

I hate 'em!! Especially when it's a big green ugly thing advertising some cheap crap PeeCee!Can't get rid of it?? When I'm browsing round the forums the last thing I want is to have to close off a zillion ad windows. And yeah I appreciate that Monish has to make money somehow.J...
Since many people here are either buying new Macs and looking to sell them, or are people like me who can't afford some of the new Macs, wouldn't it be nice to have a Board for selling computers and peripherals? I think we might feel more comfortable buying from members of this site........
I'm sure this has been asked about before, but is it possible to have a button at the end of a thread that alters you when you have gotten a reply or just when the next post is given? I know the yellow folder gives some functionality, but keeping track of more than 3 threads can be a pain.

Is the time screwed up? When I post it says 9:46 AM instead of PM.
Ack, all new posts in future hardware (and maybe other forums, haven't checked) are showing post dates of 4/16/90, meaning that new threads are going onto the last page.

It seems that the clock on AI is off. All new posts get a date of 4/15/1990 and therefore get pushed to the bottom of the forum.

For the most part I think it's ok, but Macintosh is doing it WAY too much.

I posted a dumb question that I answered myself maybe 5 minutes later. So Why is my thread now a lame duck, rather than just deleted by me? So why can't we delete our own threads? Here it is if any of you moderators care to delete: <a href=" http://forums.appleinsider.com/cgi-bin/ultimateb...

It's 40 pages right now, and since I don't know how UBB works, I have a few questions.1) Is that entire thread in one file? If so, how large is it?2) Is a thread that size a burden on the server?3) Will you EVER let a thread get to 40 pages or more again?4) Is it, indeed, a record f...
I saw a thread in Future Hardware a few minutes ago. I clicked on it, and it ceased to exist. It wasn't moved, it wasn't locked, and as far as I could tell it got no replies. It's just.. gone. Now, surely our mods wouldn't make something vanish without a trace with no explanatio...

You know on the main page (forums.appleinsider.com). Well when you click on the "Last Post" link for the different forums, if that particular thread happens to have more then one page, you are taken to the FIRST page in the thread instead of the last... Now this may very well be the way you want...
Will the boards just be shut down?

Um, sometimes I see EmAn post as a Member, and sometimes as a Moderator. Are there two, or is he/she just posting under different titles? I'M SO CONFUSED!!! :D :p
I'm having a little trouble with the fact that moderators and admins are posting their opinions under their normal usernames. Maybe I'm overreacting, but when I see an admin post something like "pathetic" in a thread, I am bothered by it. Maybe the admins and mods should only post stuff...
Anybody think this might be useful? I'm not sure as to how much traffic it would generate. I generally use macnn's if I want to let the word out.
Just curious. It's an interesting feature, and I noticed in the FAQ that even if it's enabled, individual users can opt to shut it off for themselves.Sounds like the perfect scenario, but obviously you all don't think so. Why not?BTW, this is neither a vote for or against the rati...
keeps timing out and getting stuck on "connecting to server" to load a new page. have to stop the load and then load it again to advance
I've nnoticed that the option for the server to send me an email when someone replies to one of my topics doesn't work too well. I mean it doesnt always send me emails when someone replies. It's a little nnerving; people migt say something to me and I wouldn't even realize it.
In the latest article on OS X it mentions going from 10.5 to X 11surely this is a contradiction - has the person that wrote this article forgotten that the X actually is a roman numeral meaning (and pronounced) 10. I think you'll find normal decimal numbers mean the maximum .x upgrades is .9...
Well, seeing as we now have a "Spelling Bee Champion," I think we should implement more custom titles.I vote that we give Gorgonzola the title of "The Big Cheese." And that would be quite appropriate, considering that Gorgonzola is "a pungent, blue-veined, pressed Italian cheese made of cow'...

Why don't you make all the smilies graphite to fit with the design? That could be cool. :)

The mods seem to be locking lots of threads lately when there's no need. I agree with locking threads that are the same as others, but there are some that are funny that are getting locked.

I have no idea what percentage of Mac users are using OS X right now, but I've switched over, and couldn't be more thrilled. I have been reading UNIX book after book, and I'm finding this(Unix) to be the greatest part of OS X.. I know there is an OS X area, in the forums but I belie...
